This term we are working on creating a strong narrative. It has to be believable, consistent and descriptive. It has to have a strong structure... and now we are learning to capture the audience by showing not telling.
Yesterday, we were learning to show and not tell. We looked for all our action words and highlighted them. Then we changed the weak action words to strong actions words by looking them up in the thesaurus.
Here is he link to the thesaurus: Thesaurus
This is how we did it:
Here is a weak action word sentence: Al gave Miss D coffee.
This is the sentence we changed: Al kindly rewarded Miss D with a delicious, hot cappuccino.

Thank you for checking out my blog today. I hope you learnt something about strong adjectives and how to change them. Please give me an example of a strong adjective you have used before!
Have an awesome day!
Good morning the always cheerful and smiling Miss D.Good morning the wonderful and amazing children in room 9.
ReplyDeleteIt is I,the super and ever changing Mrs Cassidy here.I am leaving a delightful comment on this wonderful blog that someone has kindly uploaded to this triangular shape machine we call a computer.
Thank you for sharing your intelligent learning that you have been busy completing inside the wooden box with oddly shaped glass windows,we call a classroom.
It's great that we can add simple words to make a sentence more attractive and inviting to read.
Have a lovely day and enjoy this beautiful warm day, although the wind is a fraction chilly.
